Ontario enters $100M deal with Starlink
The Ontario Government and Starlink have agreed to a deal believed to be valued at $100 million to provide high-speed internet to parts of northern and rural Ontario, regions that are currently underserved.
The Musk-owned company, which is run and engineered by SpaceX, entered a competitive bid that was selected to provide satellite internet to approximately 15,000 households and businesses effective June 2025. The system is supported by low-orbiting satellites which offer higher speed internet access where infrastructure is harder to install and maintain.

Balfour Beatty selected for Texas I-35 rebuild
London-based Balfour Beatty has been selected as the contractor for the $746 million reconstruction of 2.5 miles along the south side of interstate 35 through downtown Austin, Texas, which will eventually link to a future light rail line. This marks a continuation of a relationship between the contractor and the state that has existed for 30 years.
When complete, the highway will offer eight general purpose lanes, upgraded access roads, a bridge, and a new intersection at Riverside Drive, which will support the light rail access.

McDonald’s USA, Syngenta, and Lopez Foods working toward sustainable beef
A collaboration between McDonald’s USA, Syngenta North America, and Lopez Foods is seeking to reduce some of the environmental impacts of beef production. The restaurant chain is working with Syngenta, an ag-tech leader, and Lopez Foods, one of its long-term protein suppliers, coming together to improve feed efficiency to reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions released per pound of meat produced.
The innovation, Enogen®, is a corn feed that has been shown to reduce emissions compared to other corn feeds, which increases the feed efficiency in the production of beef and livestock, major protein sources for the restaurant chain.
